Summer Rafting TripSummer Rafting TripOur Mission

First Christian Church youth ministry exists to guide adolescents in discovering a “soul-shaking, heart-waking, world-changing God to fall in love with,”1 to grow youth into Disciples, serve the community from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth, and experience God through the love of Jesus Christ.

Our Vision

Here at First Christian Church, Garden City, we believe that all can follow in Christ’s footsteps. It is our responsibility to equip one another for that journey knowing that in life there are few easy answers, and it is important for all to be able to think for themselves and form their own beliefs. Therefore, it is our vision:

  • To develop a holistic ministry that values students as children of God,

  • To live  in the ways of Jesus,

  • To be a place of belonging, where everyone is really accepted,

  • To be a place of cultural engagement,

  • To be a place of spiritual questioning,

  • And to be a place where we are equipped and prepared to be a blessing to the world.

Upcoming Ministries

Throughout the year, our youth participate in many ministries. It is one of our visions to equip student to walk in the footsteps of Christ. Therefore, ministries have been designed to assist all
students in this journey. Check out some of our cool ministries.

SUNDAY SCHOOL: Every Sunday from 9:45 – 10:30 a.m., First Christian Church offers a discipleship program for all age groups. Currently, Pastor Lisa is the facilitator of our 6th - 12th grade class! Come and Join Us!

Living Out Loud: LOL is our new High School Youth Group (9th through 12th graders). All  are invited to this Sunday evening Living Out Loud adventure from 6:30 - 8 p.m. in the newly remodeled High School room.  This great discipleship hour is sponsored by our Pastor Lisa and LaVetta Eastman as well as many of our core team parents. Refreshments are served each week by our youth.

FROGS: Interestingly, FROG's (Fully Relying on God) is our Junior High Youth Ministries mission. FROG's are committed to following in Christ's footsteps as we seek to live our God's call on our lives to be the Hands and Feet of Christ. FROG's meets every Wednesday evening, 6th through 8th graders "dare to grow” in discipleship. We play lots of fun games and dive deep into the Bible. Come and join Pastor Lisa on an adventure of a lifetime from 7 – 8:15 p.m.

H.O.P.E. Puppets: Hands of Praise Eternal is a great ministry that engages students in developing artistic and dramatic skills while learning about Christ through this exciting puppet ministry. Brian Dinkel, our sponsors, invite all to join this hands-on, Christ-centered ministry every Sunday evening from 4 – 5:30 p.m. To learn more about HOPE puppets click here.

J-Team: Our Jesus Team (J-Team) meets every spring and fall for a book and bible study from 7 - 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday mornings. This ministry is available to all High School Students and requires a great spiritual commitment to growth and development. If you are interested in this ministry, contact Pastor Lisa at 620-275-5411.

Mission Projects for 2008
In the spring of 2008, the youth participated in our local mission project, the Relay for Life. It kicked off at Easter with our Resurrection Breakfast to fund our entry fee in the relay and concluded with the actual Relay on May 2, 2008, at Garden City Community College track.

Our summer mission project was for High School youth. We traveled to the Colorado Christian Home (Tennyson Center) in Denver, Co. for a week long ministry to children who have experienced a great deal of abuse in their lives. It began on Sunday, June 29, with our annual rafting trip and concluded on July 4 . All High School students had the opportunity to participate.

To learn more about our mission projects this fall, give Pastor Lisa a call at 620-275-5411.
